The Swain by Marina Tsvetaeva

11:25 May 30 2013
Times Read: 660

Maria Tsvetaeva is a Russian poet that published in 1922 the volume "Separation". One of her poems from this volume is entitled "The swain" (Molodets). It`s about a Russian girl who morphs in a flower to escape a vampire who is in love with her.

Regaining human form she has her own family but then she ceases to the vampire and flies with him to his world, leaving only blue flames behind.

I couldn`t find that poem translated so I add here a little fragment from another poem From Cycle "P.E.":

"The leaves are scattered above your tombstone

And winter's smell.

Listen, the dead one, listen, O dear one:

You're my own still.

...

I kissed you! I charmed you! I laugh at this darkness

Beyond the tomb!

I disbelieve death! I wait at the terminal -

Come home."

The firs edition cover

of the SF novel Red Star by A. Bogdanov

1908

It`s strange that a red star appears as a communist symbol almost ten years before the Russian revolution?

Sure!

It appears that vampires have a few things in common with the origin of the red star and communism.

In the image I suppose that the red star is the planet Mars and it is inhabited by a sort of strange vampires. This is interesting because if you read about the origin of the symbol before 1917 it is declared by most as unknown.

I was reading a book about Dracula and I stumbled upon a Russian author named Alexander Bogdanov who wrote a book where a vampire appears. The context is odd.

Bogdanov was one of the first who experimented on human transfusion in Russia and was a communist. He wrote two novels (Red Star 1908 and Engineer Menni 1913) where Mars was colonized by the communists and this is the only related info I got about this in a blog:

"However, in certain circles, the specific problems of blood have been studied earlier. At the beginning of the century immense popularity among the European intelligentsia acquired lectures mystic Rudolf Steiner. Among his listeners were and Maximilian Voloshin, Vladimir Ulyanov, Felix Dzerzhinsky ... With a focus on the lecture Steiner magic medicine listened to Alexander Bogdanov.

- A very interesting work Steiner's "Fundamentals of occult medicine" - says Dr. Valery biology buzzard. - It dates back to 1898. The author claimed strange, at first glance, things. For example, in the blood are some of the plate, recording information about the external world and the work of the organism itself. They carry her to his heart. This is where the processed information flows that form the individual human "I". And it microscopically varies with each beat of the heart.

In 1908, clearly influenced heard, Bogdanov wrote a novel-utopia "Red Star". It tells of a Martian civilization, which built a kind of biological communism. Everyone there shares a drop of blood with each.

This is achieved universal brotherhood and universal immortality ...

Who would have thought in the beginning of the century, the novel idea that will soon materialize. And not only in the symbol of the communists - a red star. After the revolution, was established in Moscow the world's first Institute of Blood Transfusion. It was headed by all the same Bogdanov. A few years later he died, holding a mysterious experiment on himself.

- At the Institute, much has been done for the first time in the world - continues the story B. buzzard. - Including a complete blood transfusion from one person to another. Among the volunteers, which raised these experiments, was the son of Bogdanov, Aleksandr Aleksandrovich Malinovsky. Later he becomes a famous geneticist. Alexander was sickly from birth. In the experience of his father, he participated in the age of 25. His own blood to replace blood 40-year old athlete. Soon the Constitution Malinowski began to change. I remember he was a powerful, big-boned man.

It was quite obvious: the blood is much greater charge of information than is generally assumed. Later, when I was involved in the problems of space medicine, we were able to verify some idea of Steiner with modern methods. We came to this conclusion: his "blood plates" - neither more nor less than red blood cells. When blood passes through the internal organs and red blood cells are collected through the vibration of information on their activities. Information about the external world is accumulated when the blood passes through the brain. Fully and those and other data are read into the heart.

Well, judging by the story of the scientist, confirmed receiving concepts that have always been considered a beautiful image: the memory of blood, prophetic heart ..."

It appears that in the second book Engineer Menni a vampire character appears, but I can`t find the book yet at least to add it to the database.

The research continues.
